If you can’t get to New York to see or perform in our monthly live event, the Blog Carnival is a way for sex workers and their allies to participate in the Red Umbrella Diaries from afar. Every month, I do a carnival of pieces of writing on the upcoming event’s theme and then pick my favorite to read at the event and record for the podcast.
For the next event, which takes place on December 2, the theme is Family Affairs. Here’s a little something to get you started thinking:
The holidays are stressful for anyone. But what’s it like when you’ve got a secret life in the sex industry – or a life in the sex industry without the secrets?
Your piece should be up to 700 words long, and can previously published on your own blog or elsewhere. I can conceal your identity if you send me a piece that you can’t put your name on. The themes can be interpreted all kinds of different ways, I love to see creativity. Send your links or text to stories@redumbrellaproject.com by November 21st.
